When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting and less scary. "

Elaine is the founder of Oceanbell Psychotherapy and a registered psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She is also a post-academic member of the Canadian Association of Psychoanalytic Child Therapy. With a master's degree in Psychology and over 17 years of clinical experience, Elaine has worked extensively with a wide range of issues, including mental health challenges, relationship concerns, and the emotional well-being of children and adolescents.
Elaine firmly believes that the foundation of effective therapy lies in the therapeutic alliance—the strong, trusting relationship between client and therapist. She fosters this connection by creating a client-centered environment that emphasizes cultural and linguistic sensitivity. With a holistic approach to well-being, Elaine integrates diverse therapeutic techniques to tailor treatment to each client's unique needs.
Beyond her clinical practice, Elaine is an active member of her community, regularly contributing to mental health awareness through TV and radio interviews (Fairchild TV, Omni 2, AM1430, and AM1540), as well as seminars, workshops, and forums, particularly within the Chinese community.

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counselling and psychotherapy, we are able to help you better cope with the symptoms, develop new perspectives, and regain the hope and joy that you deserve in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
We provide psychotherapy for children and adolescents who are experiencing difficulties with their emotions or behaviour. We use a variety of techniques and methods, such as Play Therapy, Art Therapy and Talk Therapy, to help children and families understand and resolve problems, modify behaviour, and make positive changes in their lives.
Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are held with both couples and in a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen their relationship.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy works by changing people's core belief and their behavior by focusing on the thoughts, beliefs and values that are held and how these processes relate to the way a person behaves, as a way of dealing with emotional problems.
Psychodynanmic Therapy is a therapeutic process which helps people understand and resolve their problems by increasing awareness of their inner world and its influence over relationships both past and present.
Play Therapy is a method of therapy that uses play as a communication tool to understand children's world and to help them deal with emotional distress and trauma.
EMDR is a relatively new therapy that research has shown to be effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD.
Emotionally-Focused Therapy uses a scientifically validated theory of adult bonding to help couples understand not only their own emotions but also how back-and-forth patterns of emotional reactions operate in, and affect, relationships.
Practices in mindfulness and meditation are finding new uses in the treatment of mental illness. There is evidence that these practices have distinct effects on the brain and significantly improve the effectiveness of therapy process.
