Elaine Lam is a registered psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario and a post-Academic member of the Canadian Association of Psychoanalytic Child Therapy. She has a masters degree in Psychology. Elaine has over 10 years of clinical practice and rich experience in working with issues on mental health, relationship, children and adolescent.
Elaine is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. She believes the strong rapport between the client and the therapist (i.e.,therapeutic alliance), is the key to the effectiveness of a treatment, is built by providing linguistic and cultural sensitivity with client-centred environment. She values the holistic view of human well-being and offers integrative approaches to meet the needs of the client.
Elaine is also an active member of the community and participated in multiple TV and radio interviews (Fairchild TV, Omni 2, AM1430 and AM1540), seminars/workshops and forums to increase the awareness of mental health in the Chinese community.

具三十五年以上心理輔導經驗,曾任台北市政府社會工作員,台北市政府少年輔導組督導,導航基金會兒童中心主任,中華創造力中心主任及嬰幼兒發展協會執行秘書。移民加拿大後,以完整的學經歷,及對社會文化差異認知的敏感度,先後於多倫多東南亞社區服務中心(前協群),Eastview Neighbourhood Community Center 及華人家庭專業輔導中心(前家和)提供長達約二十四年的家庭及個人輔導服務。歷年來不定期接受電台、電視台、報社專訪,及受邀至各學校,教會,社區機構團體等講演心理健康相關議題。

Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are held with both couples and is a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen your relationship.
We provide psychotherapy for children and adolescents who are experiencing difficulties with their emotions or behaviour. We use a variety of techniques and methods, such as Play Therapy, Art Therapy and Talk Therapy, to help children and families understand and resolve problems, modify behaviour, and make positive changes in their lives.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy works by changing people's core belief and their behavior by focusing on the thoughts, beliefs and values that are held and how these processes relate to the way a person behaves, as a way of dealing with emotional problems.
Emotionally-Focused Therapy uses a scientifically validated theory of adult bonding to help couples understand not only their own emotions but also how back-and-forth patterns of emotional reactions operate in, and affect, relationships.
EMDR is a relatively new therapy that research has shown to be effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD.
Psychodynanmic Therapy is a therapeutic process which helps people understand and resolve their problems by increasing awareness of their inner world and its influence over relationships both past and present.
Play Therapy is a method of therapy that uses play as a communication tool to understand children's world and to help them deal with emotional distress and trauma.
Practices in mindfulness and meditation are finding new uses in the treatment of mental illness. There is evidence that these practices have distinct effects on the brain and significantly improve the effectiveness of therapy process.
